Acer said today that the “ConceptD 7 SpatialLab Edition laptop” will start at €3,599 (or $4,150) when it first sells in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in December. It will be released in North America next year.
The laptop is distinguished by its stereoscopic 3D display and eye-tracking cameras, which serve to create the illusion of three-dimensional objects on the screen.
The laptop uses lenticular 3D to create the effect. The two-lens cameras in the gadget can monitor your head and eyes as you move around the laptop. The system then takes this information and, without the need of 3D glasses, generates distinct angles of the image for each of your eyes using the stereoscopic 3D display.
We haven’t had the opportunity to try the goods. The experience, according to Acer, is similar to watching items float in front of the laptop’s screen. “Real-time rendering technologies enable this process to happen instantly – if a user spins their head, the stereoscopic 3D image will adjust as though the user is gazing around it,” the business stated in a statement.
Artists and engineers who want to see their digital works reproduced in 3D may find the capability appealing, according to the PC maker. For routine tasks, the display on the ConceptD 7 SpatialLab laptop may also convert to a 2D screen, according to Acer.
The laptop’s screen is a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display. The panel transforms to a 1,920-by-2,160 resolution in 3D mode. The laptop can also be customized with high-end features such as an Intel 11th generation Core i7 H-series processor, an Nvidia RTX 3080 mobile GPU, and up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM.
On the software front, Acer claims that the laptop comes with a suite of tools capable of converting 2D digital photographs into 3D information. “With support for all major 3D file formats, artists can easily convert their 3D models into stereoscopic 3D by importing them into the SpatialLabs Model Viewer, where they can also tweak lighting, textures, and HDRI backdrops to find the best presentation settings,” the business noted.
The laptop is also said to work well with a standard 2D external monitor. On the external monitor, a user can create or edit content before viewing it in 3D on the ConceptD laptop. Take a look at the entire list of specifications down below.
