Messenger users were able to contact Instagram users without having to download a separate app last year when Facebook rolled out one-to-one, cross-platform chats for Instagram and Facebook Messenger. This allowed Messenger users to contact Instagram users. Group conversations now have access to this option, which was introduced today.
Nearly the course of the past year, “over 70 percent of eligible individuals on Instagram have updated to the new Messenger experience to enjoy new capabilities like cross-app communication,” as stated by Sateesh Kumar Srinivasan, Director of Product Management for Messenger at Facebook.
Everyone who has already used Messenger will find the experience to be very comfortable. “Within these cross-app group chats, you can continue to tailor your chat experience with chat themes and custom reactions,” notes Srinivasan. “This is something you can do across all of your chats.”
Facebook has also published additional modifications for Messenger and Instagram, including ones for Cottagecore and J Balvin, both of which have special reaction emoji. A set of augmented reality (AR) effects and an unreleased sticker pack are included with the purchase of an Astrology art suite theme.
Polling will also be available in cross-platform direct messaging and group conversations when Facebook rolls out its next update. In order to maintain a vibrant atmosphere within conversations, Group Typing Indicators will indicate whenever a participant in the chat is typing a response to the group.
With these additional features, there will be no change to the permissions. According to Srinivasan, “You select who reaches your Chats List, who goes to your Message Request folder, and who can’t message or phone you.” “You pick who goes to your Message Request folder.”
Even though the additional integration between the messaging services is likely to be beneficial for the majority of users, Facebook critics may view it as a move by the social media giant to more tightly integrate its products in an effort to avoid efforts to break it up. This would be a positive development for most users.
To give it a try, you’ll need to make sure you’re running the most recent versions of both apps.
