Preorder Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite e-readers with 10-week battery life

  • Amazon has unveiled three new Kindle Paperwhite models for ordinary users, kids, and premium consumers.
  • The Kindle Paperwhite costs $139.99, $189.99 for the Signature Edition, and $159.99 for the Paperwhite Kids.
  • Preorders for all three models are already open, and they will be available to the general public on October 27.

Amazon has introduced three new editions of its Kindle Paperwhite ereader, which are available for preorder now and will be released on October 27.

The new Kindle Paperwhite (8GB) costs $139.99, while the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32GB) costs $189.99 and the Kindle Paperwhite Kids is $159.99. At launch, covers, cases, and other accessories will be available for all models.

Every Kindle Paperwhite model will get an upgrade.

Every variant of the Kindle Paperwhite now has Amazon’s new base-level upgrades, which improve pretty about everything about the device inside and out. To begin with, the display has been slightly enlarged to 6.8 inches on the diagonal – the largest Kindle display yet – with a 10% increase in brightness and more color temperature options, such as warm versus cool light.

The battery life of Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite models has also been improved, with up to 10 weeks of regular usage now possible. When using an adapter that charges at 9 Watts or higher, the ereaders charge via USB-C, which takes two and a half hours to completely charge.

Amazon also states that the Kindle interface for these devices has been totally overhauled, with quick toggling between the home screen, your library, and the currently open book. Sorting through your collection has also been simplified, as has setting up these new Kindles, thanks to an improved pairing experience in the Kindle app for iOS and Android. These updates will be available to devices via updates until the end of the year, according to Amazon.

Finally, with an IPX8 durability certification, each Kindle Paperwhite is built to endure fall into various types of water. This Ingress Protection grade indicates that the ereaders can tolerate a brief submersion of more than 1 meter.

Upgrades are only available to Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition customers.

For its Signature Edition model, Amazon has kept what may be the most premium upgrades it has this year. To begin with, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is Amazon’s sole device with wireless charging, which works with any Qi charger.

Aside from that, the Paperwhite Signature Edition has a light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness based on ambient light and 32GB of internal storage. That’s four times the 8GB of storage available on the base model.

The Kindle is designed specifically for children.

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Kids has a kid-friendly case and a two-year replacement guarantee, in addition to all of the critical features included in the base-level Kindle Paperwhite.

Each new model also includes a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, which expands the available library by thousands of books. Word Wise, which swiftly clarifies words for readers without stopping their reading, is one of the literacy-building tools included in the Kids-specific interface. OpenDyslexic, a special typeface that some dyslexic readers prefer, is also available.

Of course, this ereader has a Parent Dashboard, which allows parents to track their children’s reading progress and add new books to their collection. The ereader will get Amazon’s Bedtime feature, which can turn the gadget off after a particular time of night.

Price and release date for Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite in 2021

Preorders for all three of Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite models for 2021 are now open on Amazon.com. The Kindle Paperwhite (8GB) retails for $139.99, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32GB) for $189.99, and the Kindle Paperwhite Kids for $159.99.

Every preordered Kindle Paperwhite model should arrive on or shortly after the October 27 release date. Each model will be available for general purchase on Amazon.com on October 27.
