Apple presented a powerful new MacBook Pro that nixes the controversial TouchBar and reinstated one of fans’ most appreciated features: MagSafe

  • Apple revealed the updated MacBook Pro in October.
  • Apple’s new M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs are available for the high-end laptop.
  • Apple reversed course, restoring MagSafe charging and dropping the TouchBar.

Apple unveiled its powerful new MacBook Pro.
Apple announced new AirPods, a redesigned MacBook Pro, and improvements to the HomePod Mini on Monday.
With a larger, more colorful display, an iPhone-like notch that houses the camera system, and an upgraded six-speaker sound system with spatial audio, the new high-end laptop is a hit.
The 14-inch and 16-inch models will be available with Apple’s new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. As a result, Apple believes the new MacBook Pro is suitable for jobs like video editing and game creation.
The new MacBook Pro will also feature better battery life (17 hours for the 14-inch model and 21 hours for the 16-inch model) and rapid charging for the first time on a Mac (up to 50% in 30 minutes).
But Apple reversed two significant design decisions. The controversial TouchBar, a touchscreen strip that replaced the function buttons at the top, has been replaced by mechanical keys that Apple claims pro users prefer.
Notably, Apple is bringing back its renowned MagSafe charger for the new MacBooks. The new laptops will employ MagSafe 3, the latest generation of Apple’s magnetic chargers, instead of USB-C.
Both devices are silver. Both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros start at $1,999. Apple announced Monday that the new MacBook Pro would be available for purchase on October 26.
