Black Versions of Noctua’s Award-Winning CPU Cooler and 120mm Fan are now available

You don’t like the brown and beige color palette of Noctua? Chromax Black is the new kid on the block.

Over the last 16 years, Noctua has built a solid reputation for producing high-performance, quiet CPU coolers and fans. The brown and beige color palette of its items, on the other hand, was not everyone’s favorite aspect. With the introduction of a “sleek stealth style” and pure black vehicles, that’s changing.

The NH-U12A CPU cooler and the NF-A12x25 120mm system fan are now available in black from the cooling firm. The new series of all-black Noctua models is dubbed Chromax Black, and it promises the same cooling performance as its brown counterparts. The company is also sorry for the delay in receiving Chromax, as CEO Roland Mossig explained:

“We are aware of how eagerly our customers have been waiting for these products and we would have loved to get them out earlier, but first we had to spend some extra time in order to make sure that we can exactly match the performance of the brown fans, and then things were further delayed by various supply chain issues due to the global pandemic”

PC builders, particularly those who like cases with a side window, will forgive Noctua for making them wait. The NH-U12A CPU cooler works with both current Intel processors and the upcoming 12th-generation Alder Lake chips. Due to seven heatpipes in an optimized arrangement, two fans, and 37 percent more fin surface area than the NH-U12S, Noctua claims it has the performance of a 140mm cooler in the footprint of a 120mm cooler.

New NA-HC7 and NA-HC8 heatsink covers for the Chromax and non-Chromax NH-U12A with a black or white central plate have also been released by Noctua. However, the swappable version of the heatsink cover, which features color inlays in black, blue, green, red, yellow, and white, can be used to add more color. The NH-U12A Chromax Black will set you back $119.90, the NF-A12x25 Chromax Black will set you back $32.90, and the three heatsink covers will set you back $19.90 apiece.
