What you should know
- Razer’s Project Hazel has evolved into the Razer Zephyr, a cutting-edge mask with cutting-edge features.
- It stands out from the crowd thanks to N95-grade filters, a transparent design, a voice amp, and LEDs.
- Hazel is a symbol of Razer’s continued support and commitment to community health and safety.
‘Project Hazel,’ a smart mask featuring LEDs, changeable N95 filters, voice amp technology, and a transparent design, was introduced by Razer six months ago. With several usability features and flare, the mask is a big advancement over disposable cotton masks.
The prototype has progressed to genuine commercial hardware with a new name: Razer Zephyr, the company announced today (meaning: a gentle breeze). This news comes after Razer said in June that the Zephyr would be released in “early Q4”, with signups open for those interested in being first in line.
For bacteria larger than 3 microns in size, Zephyr gets a Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) grade of 99 percent in lab testing. There’s also a storage case that employs UV light to auto-sterilize the mask, “killing bacteria and viruses while the mask charges.” There are even more bizarre features, such as “low light mode,” which allows you to “present oneself clearly regardless of the lighting circumstances” since the “mask’s interior lights up automatically when it’s dark.”
While the 2020 COVID pandemic is Zephyr’s main emphasis, recent occurrences of the Delta strain (and Lambda) have brought mask use back to the center of public health.
Furthermore, given previous epidemics like as SARS, the 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic, and the frequency of Asian Dust, wearing masks has become increasingly common in many Asian countries. Masks have also become popular as a way to counteract the respiratory impacts of airborne pollution and, in certain cases, allergies. As a result, Zephyr could be more profitable in those regions than in Western nations where wearing masks is more difficult (even one as cool looking as Zephyr).
The price of the Razer Zephyr is yet to be revealed, but we should know more in the coming weeks. Despite what is expected to be a steep price tag for the privilege, Razer expects considerable demand for the mask.
