The Find X5 Pro flagship from Oppo is now available for purchase.

Oppo has officially launched the Find X5 Pro, their top phone for 2022, following numerous rumors and teases. It’s a somewhat iterative follow-up to last year’s Find X3 Pro, but that phone was fantastic, and after spending more than a week with a not-yet-final prototype of its replacement, I expect the same.
The Find X5 Pro’s design is inspired by the X3 Pro’s curved unibody design. The back panel is ceramic this time around, which, paired with the abstract shape of the camera bump, gives the white unit I’ve been testing a futuristic, Star Wars stormtrooper-like feel. It’s a unique item with excellent build quality, and it looks much better in person than I anticipated.
The Find X3 Pro’s odd camera hump has a bit less going on. Oppo has ditched the ring light-equipped microscope camera in favor of the same 50-megapixel IMX766 sensors in both primary and ultrawide cameras, as well as a 13-megapixel telephoto lens. Although the microscope camera wasn’t necessary, it’s frustrating that it wasn’t replaced with something more helpful, such as the periscope telephoto camera that Oppo pioneered.
While the primary 50-megapixel camera sensor remains the same, the lens in front of it has been upgraded to f/1.7, and Oppo claims that it now employs more glass than the previous all-plastic optics. In addition, the lens now offers five-axis stabilization. Oppo is touting both the Hasselblad alliance and its own MariSilicon X image NPU, which provides significant improvements for low-light HDR video recording, with a dedicated “4K Ultra Night Video” option. I’ll wait till I have a released version of the software before passing judgment on the results, as Oppo says the next update will focus on on-camera performance.
The rest of the specs are what you’d expect from a flagship this year. A 6.7-inch 1440p 120Hz OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 5,000mAh battery, 80W fast charging, 50W wireless charging, IP68 water and dust protection, 256GB of storage, and 12GB of RAM are among the features. The Find X5 will also be available in a non-Pro variant with a Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a smaller 6.5-inch 1080p OLED screen.
The Find X5 Pro’s price and release date will vary by area. Once the firmware has been finished, we’ll have more coverage on this gadget.
