What’s the difference between the Surface Pro 7 Plus and the Surface Pro 7?

Surface Pro 7 Plus

The Surface Pro 7 Plus gets a mid-generation upgrade for Enterprise and Education, but it’s still available from Microsoft or select resellers to the general public. 11th-generation Intel processors, a replaceable and upgradeable SSD, optional 4G LTE, up to 32GB of RAM, and improved battery life make this an excellent bridge between the Pro 7 and the next Pro 8.

Surface Pro 7

The Surface Pro 7 is still a wonderful 2-in-1 PC that is becoming more widely available. It lacks the latest Intel CPUs, has a maximum of 16GB of RAM, no LTE capability, and its SSD is stuck inside, but it’s still a strong gadget with 8-hour battery life and good performance.

Pros

  • SSDs are now detachable and upgradeable on Intel’s 11th generation processors.
  • Up to 32GB RAM for longer battery life
  • 4G LTE connectivity is available as an option.

Cons

  • There is still no 5G available, and there are fewer retailers selling it.

Pros

  • Identical high-end design
  • Battery life of up to a day Instant On and Resume
  • Excellent performance is less expensive

Cons

  • No LTE 10th Gen Intel CPUs max out at 16GB RAM
  • There is no removable SSD

The Surface Pro 7 Plus is a mid-generation refresh that has Intel’s 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, 4G LTE connection, removable or upgradeable SSD, configurations with up to 32GB of RAM, improved battery life, and the same fantastic design you know and love. Although this is a “business” laptop aimed at the Enterprise and Education markets, anyone can purchase one directly from Microsoft or other select dealers.

The Surface Pro 8 has replaced both the Surface Pro 7 Plus and the Surface Pro 7. It has been completely redesigned, with a larger screen, new connectors, and quicker technology. Our Surface Pro 8 vs. Pro 7 comparison has a complete list of differences.

Returning to the previous generation, let’s look at the differences between the Surface Pro 7 Plus and the Surface Pro 7, as well as why you might choose to buy one over the other.

What is different about the Surface Pro 7 Plus?

A mid-generation laptop refresh isn’t unusual, and Microsoft has opted for a Surface Pro 7 Plus for Enterprise and Education sectors rather than a full Surface Pro 8. Don’t worry, average people can purchase the new Pro 7 Plus. So, what’s new, and why is Microsoft taking this approach?

Microsoft appears to have wished to include the new Intel processors (CPU) in the Pro series as well as provide LTE for those who require it without undergoing a more extensive makeover.

The Pro 7 Plus with 11th Gen processors should be significantly faster than the Pro 7 with 10th Gen Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 CPUs. Intel claims that integrated Intel Iris Xe provides up to a 30% increase in processing power and an 80% increase in graphics power. It’s worth noting that the Core i3 machines still use Intel UHD graphics; if you want better graphics, you’ll have to go with the 11th Gen Core i5 or Core i7 variants. LPDDR4x memory can now be configured up to 32GB, up from 16GB in the Pro 7.

The efficiency of the upgraded CPUs should enhance battery life in addition to providing a good speed boost. Unlike the Pro 7, which has a battery life of roughly 10.5 hours (realistically about 8 hours as tested in our Surface Pro 7 review), the Pro 7 Plus has a battery life of about 15 hours for Wi-Fi variants. Although the exact number will vary, it will still be a significant increase over the previous generation.

The Surface Pro 7 Plus has gotten a major software upgrade that improves Intel Xe graphics performance, audio quality, Bluetooth stability, battery life, and more.

The Pro 7 Plus, like the Surface Pro X, now features a small door on the rear of the chassis that allows for simple access to the solid-state drive (SSD). It’s a nice addition to a laptop that has traditionally been difficult (read: impossible) to upgrade after purchase, whether you’re searching for security or a quick upgrade.

The addition of a Snapdragon X20 LTE modem is undoubtedly enticing for someone who is often on the road. This enables for constant connectivity whether or not you’re in Wi-Fi range; nevertheless, when using a data connection, expect the battery to be slightly depleted. The 4G LTE capability is only available on Core i5 versions.

Overall, this is primarily an internal overhaul, so those hoping for thinner bezels, new connectors (like as Thunderbolt 4), or 5G connectivity will have to wait for later generations. And don’t worry, the Pro 7 Plus will work with your old Surface Pen and Type Cover. If you don’t want to use the Type Cover, you may always use one of the finest keyboards for Microsoft Surface.

Where to buy the Surface Pro 7 Plus and how much it costs

Anyone can purchase the Surface Pro 7 Plus through the Microsoft Store’s Business section. There, you can customize models to your liking and check out like you would in a consumer store. Prices start around $900 and go up from there, with a variety of setups to choose from.

If you don’t want to buy directly from Microsoft, you can check out a few local dealers to see if they have stock and the configuration you want.

The Surface Pro 7 Plus includes 11th-generation Intel processors, LTE connection, and more

The Pro 7 Plus has new 11th Gen Intel Core CPUs, a 4G LTE modem, up to 32GB RAM, and a removable SSD, making it the more advanced of the two devices. The battery life improves, you can stay connected from anywhere, and you may upgrade your storage once you buy it.
