Wonder Woman: The Monolith, the Trailer, and Everything Else You Need to Know About the Film

On the red carpet of The Game Awards 2021, a surprise world reveal was showcased, with Monolith Productions unveiling a Wonder Woman game. The game will strive to tell a unique story that revolves around the legendary DC Comics superhero, Superman. Because Monolith Productions has shared some key details about the game, we now know a little more than we did previously about what we can expect from the title. Fans are already hoping that this game will be one of the best Xbox games available when it is released later this year. All that we know about Wonder Woman so far can be found right here.

What is the meaning of Wonder Woman?

Wonder Woman is an upcoming third-person open-world action-adventure game that will feature the iconic character from the DC Comics universe as the main protagonist. A team led by Monolith Productions is working on the project, which will be published by Warner Bros Interactive.

As stated in a press release issued shortly after the game’s announcement, Wonder Woman will tell “an original story set in the DC Universe and allow players to become Diana of Themyscira in the fight to bring her Amazon family and humans from the modern world together.” Wonder Woman will be released on March 29th.

Although it is currently unknown whether the Wonder Woman game will include any other characters from the DC universe, it is highly likely that at least a few familiar faces from the Wonder Woman comics will make an appearance. Aside from the fact that Monolith Productions has stated that the game will feature an original story, it is also unclear whether the game will tie into any sort of established canon that DC has established in their comics or throughout their movie properties.

Wonder Women trailers

It was revealed during The Game Awards 2021 on December 9 that the first trailer for Wonder Woman would be released. While there isn’t any actual gameplay or even a hint as to what the story will be about, we do get a good look at what Diana will look like when she appears in the game.

Throughout the trailer, Wonder Woman’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (also known as the Amazon Queen), pleads with her daughter to return home, presumably setting the stage for where the game will begin.

Who is Monolith Productions, and what do they do?

Monolith Productions, not to be confused with Monolith Soft, the developer of Xenoblade Chronicles, is a developer owned by Warner Bros. and based in Los Angeles. As part of its long and illustrious history, it has created a number of critically acclaimed games, including the F.E.A.R. series, Gotham City Imposters, and, most recently, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.

Speculation among fans has suggested that Wonder Woman will be more closely related to both Middle-Earth films than anything else Monolith has produced. David Hewitt, Vice President and Studio Head of Monolith Productions, spoke about the company’s goals for the upcoming game during the game’s initial announcement.

“The power of player-driven storytelling to bring people together is something we believe in at Monolith Productions. Each and every day, we are inspired by the stories our players share with us, and we are honored to accompany them on a unique personal journey, guided by the values embodied in Wonder Woman “Hewitt expressed himself.

When Hewitt talks about player-driven storytelling, it’s likely that some fans’ ears perk up, which brings us to our next question about the upcoming Wonder Woman game.

Is there going to be a Nemesis System?

Yes. However, while we haven’t seen any gameplay or been given any information about how Wonder Woman will function, Hewitt’s comments do confirm that the Nemesis System will be making its way from the world of Middle-Earth to that of Wonder Woman. As stated in the game’s announcement, “The Nemesis System raised the bar for player-driven storytelling, and we’re excited to push the open-world genre forward, combining cutting-edge action with inventive narratives to create a Wonder Woman game that everyone will want to play.”

For those who are unfamiliar with it, the Nemesis System was first introduced in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, which was released in 2014. There was a complex system at work in the game’s gameplay mechanics that essentially created a massive web of relationships between the player and various high-ranking enemies throughout the game. Taking out a general in a particular area in Shadow of Mordor, for example, would open the door for another low-level Orc to rise to prominence. That Orc would then remember you, causing a domino effect of sorts that resulted in unique interactions for each player as a result of their encounter.

It’s unclear whether Wonder Woman will employ the Nemesis System in the same manner as Superman, but Monolith Productions has hinted that it could be used by both allies and adversaries in the film. As they progress from a heroic fighter to a proven leader, gamers will forge deep connections with both enemies and allies, according to the game’s developer.

Wonder Women platforms

At the moment, no official platforms have been introduced for Surprise Lady, however looking at the venues that Center-Earth: Shadow of Warfare — Monolith’s final developed title — launched on, it is secure to imagine the sport can be out there on at the very least the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and PS5. Whereas it is unknown whether or not the sport will launch on last-generation platforms just like the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, it is unlikely to suppose it can.

When is Wonder Woman going to be released?

Unfortunately for Wonder Woman fans who were anticipating the game’s release after its announcement, there is currently no official release date schedule for the game. It appears that despite the fact that Monolith Productions has not released a game since 2017’s Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the studio is still not ready to announce a release date for this already highly anticipated game.

A more precise release date from Monolith Productions will have to be determined once the pandemic has had an impact on game development around the world. It is also possible that the game will require additional time as a result of the pandemic.
